BF was hungry before dinner. We got one ice cream flavor butter toffee crunch. Very good, old fashioned ice cream! There are a ton of funky flavors and a big variety of donuts.

The deep fried banana donuts are out of this world popular with our friends.

Update: we came here 3 days in a row.

Lots of street parking but most people walk.

Man, I'm glad I stumbled upon this place on the way "home" late at night and decided to try a doughnut.  WOW!!!!

No negative shade on blue star, voo doo, etc. but the donuts at Angel's were WAY better than those places. I mean hands down, feet down, and any other appendage down better.  Oh, and they are a fraction of the cost. A FRACTION!

Super nice staff, decent size area to eat in and a ton of ice cream as well with super reasonably priced milkshakes.

Anyway, the doughnuts were amazing.  I went back the next morning and there was 3 times the selection.  There selection was amazing.  Please do yourself a favor and stop by and try this place.  Angel's will be the ONLY doughnut shop I go to next time I'm in Portland and I will probably stop by 2-3 times.

The glazed banana buttermilk bar was so good.  Everything I want in a doughnut. Slightly crispy on the outside, moist and soft on the inside, the banana flavor was something I've never had in a doughnut before and it was the primary source of the sweetness.  I also appreciate that the donut was not overglazed as a lot of places do this and they end up being too sweet.  There was just the right amount of this one.

The raised doughnuts were also really good and had a chewy elastic characteristic to them.  Perfect.  You want blueberry or raspberry topping or filling in your doughnut?  They have that too.  Bacon topped maple bars, yes, they have that.  Cake doughnuts with crumb? Yes, all the classics? Yes.  French or what most people call crullers?  Yes.

$1.30 - $1.50 a doughnut............... I'll let you catch your wind, because that probably knocked it right out of you.

I didn't even yelp this place before going.  Just curiously walked in.  Saw the price and saw how they looked and gave them a try.  You should do the same, but if you are here reading this, find a way to get there and go!

These donuts are both great tasting and fairly priced, a combination I rarely find these days.

How a company believes that $3-$4 for a single donut is a reasonable price is well beyond me.  I was about to stop with five donuts and the counter person told me that there was a price break if I added one more, and with that it was less than $1.50 for each regular donut and an extra $0.50 for their specialty pastries.

I did spend the extra to try their buttermilk cakes.  While they were pretty good, I won't get more of them the next time.  They have a good concept, a bit of fruit filling in a fairly massive buttermilk cake.  Not my preferred ratio of dough to filling (too much dough) to justify the extra price.

The service was friendly, quick and the selection was pretty good even coming in after dinner when most donut places have been pretty picked over in terms of selection.

The wife's favorite is a chocolate old fashioned and they met her expectations with a great one.

The maple buttermilk bar was probably my favorite and both my kids were happy with their choices.

    Certainly with another try

Portland is known for Voodoo Donuts, but this place should be on the map as well!  I went with a donut sundae.  I picked a maple bar and topped it with a carmel coffee ice cream.  Definitely a unique combo and definitely delicious!  They offer samples (for the ice cream at least), so don't hesitate to ask.  There is a good amount of indoor seating, but no patio unfortunately.  There are like one or two mini table outside, but no overhang to protect you from the sun if my memory serves me correctly.  The inside could use some sprucing up as it seems like it hasn't been remodeled in decades.

Not many places are open late night, but they are! Came here after a graduation ceremony at UofP. Great spot yummy choices. Don't let the outside scare you away
